Safe and Sound Protocol

An evidence-based listening therapy that helps you feel safe.

The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a gentle, evidence-based listening therapy that works directly with your nervous system — helping it shift out of a state of defence and into one of calm and regulation.

Delivered through specially filtered music, SSP gently guides your nervous system toward a greater sense of safety. When your system feels safe, everything else becomes more possible: it's easier to settle, to connect with others, and to engage fully in therapy.

I often use SSP alongside CBT and EMDR, as a foundation that helps the rest of our work take hold. It's paced to the individual and can be a particularly supportive part of trauma and anxiety work.

How it can help
  • Calms the body's stress and threat responses
  • Supports a greater sense of safety and connection
  • Complements trauma, anxiety and EMDR work
  • Gentle, gradual and paced to you

Curious whether Safe and Sound could help you?

If you'd like to know whether SSP might be a good fit — on its own or alongside therapy — I'm happy to talk it through. There's no pressure, just a friendly conversation.
